---Anise has a radar in her for anything furry and cute. If there are any dogs anywhere near the soccer field during Kaden's games, she spends the entire time making friends with them.---

May 16, 2010
---Well, today is my due date - and still no baby. I'm swollen, tired and grumpy. It doesn't help that Sean has been on call in Raymond all day yesterday and today, so I had to handle Kaden's 2 soccer games yesterday and church by myself this morning. And the kids in my primary class where less than co-operative today - so much so that I finally gave up on teaching the lesson and headed to the primary room early for sharing time. Basically, I'm done. Really really done. Now if only the baby was too---

---There isn't much better than a Slurpee on a hot day! Especially when you spend a good part of it watching soccer games in an open field with no shade. It sure hit the spot!---

May 14, 2010
---Finally, some nice weather! And how did we celebrate? The kids had some fun in the backyard with the water table and wadding pool, Sean rented a rototiller for the garden and got it all dug up, and I stayed in the cool house with my feet up as much as possible so I wouldn't swell up too bad! All in all, a great day---

---What do you do with 5 kids, and two medical residency widows who don't feel like making dinner? You get a blanket, and couple chairs, pizza, some crazy bread, chips, and juice boxes and have a pizza picnic in the park! Then sit back and watch the pizza sauce fly---

May 12, 2010
---Ignore the fact that my toes look like sausages - just look at the pretty paint job I did today ALL BY MYSELF! No small accomplishment considering I'm 39 1/2 weeks pregnant!!---

May 11, 2010
---A little rag quilt I made. I know, I know, how many quilts does one baby possibly need? Well, this one is for covering the baby in the car seat, so it's just a little one. I cut it all out and sewed it in one day - and besides the baby's not here yet, so I might as well keep sewing to occupy my time while I wait---

---Anise took the camera outside to take some pictures for me (totally her idea). We mostly ended up with pictures of the grass and road, but I thought this one was kinda neat---

---Kaden lost his first tooth today! He's been wiggling it for about a week now, and finally it was loose enough (and he was brave enough) to pull it out. He hasn't been this excited for a long time, and I know it's partially because Anise lost her tooth 7 months ago (how sad for your little sister to lose a tooth before you, even if it was you that knocked it out) and the fact that he was the only kid in his class that hadn't lost a tooth yet. He couldn't wait to put it under his pillow to see what the tooth fairy would bring him!---

May 8, 2010
---I spent most of my day doing taxes. I almost got it all done, but then my back was sore from sitting, and my eyes wouldn't focus on the paper any more, so I had a nap and then couldn't bring myself to get it out again.---

---Kaden completing my Mother's Day Spa experience at the school. I got a shoulder rub, lotion rubbed on my hands, stories read to me, punch and cookies, and my nails painted! He even used 5 different colours, so it would be extra pretty, and was very careful not to get any on my skin - he did a great job! It was a very fun way to spend an hour with him---

---Anise mixing the colour into her new play-dough Great Grandma Frache made for her today. She loved squishing it while it was still warm.---

---For some people Sunday means a big dinner of roast, potatoes and all the fixin's, and for us sometimes it does. But for the most part, I like to do something simple and keep it fairly low key. Which means we often have breakfast for dinner. Pancakes, or waffles, or french toast. If I'm really feeling ambitious I'll cook everyone an egg too. It's quick, it's easy and the kids love it!---

---My Mom and Kaden helping out with freezer meals from The Big Cook. Lurel and Sean helped too, and in about 5 hours we were able to have 80 meals in the deep freeze ready to cook when needed! It's going to be so nice to have those once the baby comes, since it will require very little thought on my part and all the work has already been done---

---This guy's back from Canmore! It's good to have him home, even if it is just for a couple days before he heads to work in Raymond. At least he can commute most days, so we'll get to see him for dinner and bedtime---

April 29, 2010
---We had another storm. It wasn't so bad this time - school was still on, but we did have flickery lights for a while, and I wondered if we would lose power. It did go out for a couple hours, but luckily I was at Grandma's house and she had her power all day. When is it spring?---

---The beginnings of my bean wreath. Step 1 - get some beans, a foam wreath, a glue gun and a lot of glue. Step 2 - glue the beans to the wreath, trying to avoid the hot glue with your fingers as much as possible. Step 3 - when the wreath is completely covered spray paint it whatever fantastical colour your heart desires. Step 4 - hang it up! So, I'm still on step 2, but I'll post a picture when I'm done so you can see how lovely it is---

---Another season of soccer has begun. This time it's outdoor. Kaden is excited to have his friends Alden and Kolten on his team this time. He is however disappointed to be #3 again---

April 25, 2010
---One thing we learned about Canmore is that there are bunnies everywhere! Before we could go home the kids had to feed some bunnies. So we headed out with a bag of carrots and a mission to feed a bunny. It didn't take long to be successful! They were both really sad when the bunny wouldn't take any more carrots, but really, how many carrots can one bunny possible eat?!---

April 24, 2010
---The place Sean was staying was literally right across the parking lot from the hospital. The kids were sad when he had to go to work, but thought it was the coolest thing ever that they could watch him walk all the way into the hospital. They were tickled pink when he turned and waved to them from the door!---

April 23, 2010
---So, as it turns out, when you don't get to see your husband for a month, you will do almost anything to see him. Including packing up your two kids and driving 3 1/2 hours to Canmore while 37 weeks pregnant, and making the said two kids sleep in the closet, because it's a one room apartment and there isn't anywhere else to put them. We didn't tell them it was a closet, and they just thought it was fun to be at "Daddy's little house" for the weekend in the mountains. No harm done right?---

---The iron, one of my arch nemesis'. I don't ever really like to iron, but tack on the 8 months pregnant thing and the fact that my leg goes numb if I stand for longer than 3 minutes (not kidding - it goes numb in the shower) and there hasn't been a whole lot of quality time for the two of us. Luckily (or maybe not so luckily) my ironing board can be adjusted so that I can sit and iron at the same time, which solves the whole numb leg thing and allows me to watch TV while doing it, almost making me forget that I'm ironing in the first place.---

April 20, 2010
---It was a long time coming, but she finally fell asleep on the way to pick Kaden up from school. She was one grumpy girl today, let me tell you! After her quick nap in the van she was all ready to go to dance, and much, much happier!---

April 19, 2010
---So as it turns out, our yard does in fact have flowers in it. We moved in last August, so spring flowers were long gone, and the yard resembled a jungle, so I really wasn't sure what surprises we would get in the spring. I resisted planting any bulbs in the fall, not wanted to disturb anything that might already be there, and I lucked out and have myself some tulips!---

---Since Sean was out of town until last evening, we had his birthday cake a day late. Afterward we went to wish Grandpa Brooks a happy birthday too---

April 17, 2010
---Just as I was about to put the kids to bed, Sean called to say he was about 20 minutes away. The kids were so excited that Daddy was coming home for a couple days and that they got to see him before bed! As soon as I told them, they plopped down in front of the window and watched and waited for Daddy to come home---

---This is what I see when I answered the door this afternoon. Anise, proud as can be, with a big ol' handful of worms!
Anise: Look Mommy, I found some worms
Me: Yes, I see that
A: They're going to be my pets
M: OK, that's fine. As long as they are outside pets
A: OK, I'm going to put them right here by the door so that if they need anything they can just knock.
M: All right. Are you ready to come in a wash your hands? ---

April 14, 2010
---We have officially been apart of history. Lethbridge School District actually declared a snow day and closed all the schools! This has NEVER happened within the city in my lifetime. We got so much heavy snow last night that the power is out in many parts of the city, and some places are without water too. We were lucky and had both all day. The kids spent some time playing around in the backyard and from this picture you can see how deep the snow is! I was expecting them to build a giant snowman or something, but they weren't all that interested. After a bit of time outside, they were soaking wet and ready to hunker down with a movie and a warm blanket - so that's what we did! It was fun to be 'trapped' inside for a day and just relax---

April 13, 2010
---Anise made a 'road' out of the scraps of fabric I was cutting. It went all over the living room too - then the ladybug magnets went for an adventure on the pretty rainbow road---

---Really not a good picture, but these two robins came to visit our tree today! That means spring is really on it's way, doesn't it?---

April 11, 2010
---It's quite possible that I'm nesting. I've already got the stroller and car seat together, the bassinet washed, several boxes of blankets, clothes, and other baby needs washed and folded, and two large boxes of diapers (216 diapers each!). This doesn't include the blankets I'm working on at Grandmas house! I've never been so prepared for a baby to come, and I've still got over a month to go! Guess I'm ready whenever baby is---

April 10, 2010
---The kids in the cardboard house that Sean helped them build. It's a bit small for the two of them (it's just a baby carseat/stroller box) but they had a blast instructing Daddy where to put windows, constructing a chimney, and colouring flowers and other pretty things on it---

---Kaden spent the Easter week break at Volleyball Camp. He LOVED it! For two hours every day he learned the rules of the game, did drills and had fun. He is already asking about the next one in August :-) ---

---Another look at our new little one! This ultrasound was fun because I could tell what most stuff was without needing to be told. I could even see hair waving around! I can't wait to meet this new little person!---

April 5, 2010
---I finally got this shelf repainted and hung in the entrance. It will be so nice for the kids to have somewhere to hang their stuff, instead of it just being on the floor all the time. Not that I'm expecting it to always be on the hooks - but now when it's bugging me I have somewhere I can tell them to put it!---

April 4, 2010
---I am so very grateful for my Savior and all He has done for me. I know that He died for me and because of that I can live with Him again. He is also a great comfort and strength when life gets hard - all I have to do is ask---

---Colouring Easter eggs at Great Grandma Frache's house. We have done this every year for as long as I know - even when there weren't any kids under the age of 14 around. The Easter bunny always hides them in the backyard the next day---

---We're not going to see too much of this guy next month. He's doing some out of town electives in Emergency Medicine for the month of April. Two weeks in Edmonton, and then two weeks in Canmore. We know for sure he can come home after the first week of Edmonton for the weekend, but after that who knows! If I wasn't so pregnant I would take the kids for a visit at some point, but I don't know if I'm brave enough (or awake enough) to make the journey by myself - to either place. So we'll just see what his schedule ends up being, and hope we get to see him once in a while next month. We sure are going to miss him!---
